On our exciting guided tours and expeditions we will take you along on a journey into the world of animals and the complex habitats of this earth. Whether in the Polarium, Darwineum or through the zoo, for children, adults or the entire family, scientific, amusing or adventurous – our guided tours offer a wide range of topics – coordinated in terms of age and occasion.
During this exciting guided tour through the Darwineum you will get to the bottom of the question concerning the origin of our planet and the origin of plants, animals and humans. In our living museum we will travel 3.5 billion years through time with you. You will experience the birth of the universe, and in various thematic exhibits we will show you how life on earth evolved in different eras, and introduce you to the animal representatives of the stages of evolution. The highlight of the guided tour is a visit to the Tropical Hall. Here you will experience gorillas and orangutans, and become witnesses of their family life and the association with De Brazza’s monkeys and gibbons. With lots of interesting information we will bring you closer to the world of great apes and reveal the importance which is attached to the protection of these endangered animal species.
4,200 animals in 430 different species from all over the world live at the Rostock Zoo. Near-naturally designed facilities embedded in an extensive park landscape are found at the zoo. Here the animals live separately or in their appropriate habitats in association with other animal species. On an exciting guided tour through the zoo we will bring you closer to the world of animals that is rich in species and worthy of protection. We will take you along on a walk around the world, and in the process we will relate many things worth knowing and mentioning about capuchin monkeys, Artic foxes, lechwe antelopes and many other animals.
At the Polarium you will go together with us on an expedition from the South Pole to the North Pole and explore the differences of the two polar habitats as well as their fauna and flora. The Humboldt penguins will show you the way into the Polarium. Here you will learn why penguins cannot fly, but are able to shoot like torpedoes through the water.
In den Marine Worlds you will submerge into the world of oceans. You will ultimately encounter the world’s largest land carnivores. Everything in the Ice Worlds revolves around polar bears and their endangered habitat.
